MIBS Transcript Notation

For MIBS degree holders, see the letter below for details about obtaining a notation on your transcript if you need one.
Suggested ways to represent your MIBS degree on your resume so that the more recognizable and scannable “MBA” is included:

  • MIBS (International MBA)
  • International MBA (formerly named MIBS)
  • MBA (MIBS, Masters of International Business Studies)

Dear MIBS Alum:

Greetings from the Moore School. We hope this message finds you well and enjoying the summer.

Over the past year or so, some MIBS graduates have inquired about converting the name of their Master of International Business Studies (MIBS) degree to the current program’s name, International Masters of Business Administration (IMBA). One reason for wanting to do this is to leverage the more universally recognized and scannable ‘MBA’ designation.

In response to these inquiries, the Moore School provided the University administration with a detailed comparison of the MIBS program and the IMBA program. We are pleased to report that the University has granted you official permission, if you so desire, to refer to your MIBS degree as an IMBA degree and to receive an official transcript with a notation that the MIBS program name was changed in 2001 to IMBA .

If you would like a transcript with this notation, you will need to complete the linked Request for Transcript Notation and the Transcript Request forms and submit both via fax to the University of South Carolina Registrar’s Office at +1.803.777.6349. Please see the following link for additional details:

Your diploma will stand as originally granted and printed since formal degree names may not be converted, regardless of similarity, to current or future degree programs.

We look forward to catching up with you at the many planned alumni events and tours this coming academic year. Please contact with any questions.

Best regards,

Christine La Cola
